Adobe unveils new AI-driven features in Illustrator and Photoshop
Adobe announces new features for Illustrator and Photoshop, aimed at enhancing creative workflows and reducing time on tedious tasks.
Adobe, a leading creative software, offers a wide range of tools for marketers and designers to create, edit, and optimize visual content. From graphic design and video editing to digital marketing and web development, Adobe’s suite of applications provides essential solutions for professionals looking to enhance their creative processes.
Adobe's latest releases of Illustrator and Photoshop aim to accelerate creative workflows, save time, and empower designers to bring their visions to life more efficiently. The new features, including Firefly-enabled tools such as Generative Shape Fill in Illustrator and the Selection Brush Tool in Photoshop, are designed to free up time so creative professionals can focus on the parts of their work they love.
Illustrator's new tools include the Generative Shape Fill (beta), which allows designers to add detailed vectors to shapes by entering text prompts directly in the Contextual Taskbar. This feature, powered by the Firefly Vector Model (beta), supports creators with enhanced speed, power, and precision. Additional updates such as the Dimension Tool, Mockup (beta), Retype, enhanced selection tools, and Text to Pattern (beta) help streamline workflows and reduce repetitive tasks.
Photoshop introduces intuitive features to accelerate core creative processes. The new Selection Brush Tool, Adjustment Brush Tool, and enhancements to the Type Tool and Contextual Taskbar provide greater control and efficiency when selecting, compositing, and adjusting images. The Generate Image feature, powered by Adobe Firefly Image 3 Model, offers new ways to ideate and create, removing the blank page obstacle for designers.
Ashley Still, Senior VP of digital media at Adobe, stated, “The most creative people across illustration, design, photography and beyond trust Adobe’s tools to deliver the most features to maximize productivity and accelerate workflows across ideation, design and production. Adobe’s new innovations in Illustrator and Photoshop are built directly into designers’ existing workflows, offering new ways to create and helping them to work faster and focus on what they do best – drawing, designing and bringing their creative visions to life.”
Adobe Firefly powers these updates with its generative AI capabilities, enhancing tools like Generative Shape Fill in Illustrator and Generate Image in Photoshop. These features allow for quick addition of detailed vectors, customized pattern creation, and improved image sharpness and detail.
Other key updates include:

In the competitive landscape of creative software, Adobe faces strong rivals like CorelDRAW, Affinity Designer, and Sketch, each boasting unique AI capabilities. CorelDRAW integrates AI-powered features such as PowerTRACE for efficient bitmap-to-vector conversion and the Vision FX plugin for generating art with text prompts, streamlining design processes and expanding creative possibilities.
Affinity Designer focuses on AI-enhanced image adjustments, vector path optimization, and intelligent scaling, ensuring high precision and quality.
Meanwhile, Sketch excels in UI/UX design with AI features like smart layouts and responsive resizing, maintaining consistency and efficiency in collaborative environments. These advancements make each software a compelling choice for designers looking to enhance their creative workflows and achieve high-quality results.
