The study surveyed 1,000 individuals across various age groups, from Gen Z to Baby Boomers, to understand how AI impacts brand perception. According to the research, 55% of respondents view AI-driven communications negatively, with 79% stating they might switch brands if AI is the primary tool used in brand communications.
One of the key findings is that 41% of consumers feel AI-driven emails diminish the authenticity of brand messaging, leading to less trust and transparency. Nearly one in five respondents noted that even subtle AI use in emails can be detected and has a negative impact on brand communication quality. This disconnect makes 27% of respondents feel less connected to brands using AI-generated emails, which could lead to a significant customer churn.
The study also highlighted generational differences in responses to AI-generated emails. For each generation, the likelihood of switching brands is as follows:

Overall, 88% of consumers indicated they would ignore suspected AI-generated marketing emails, with 51% being less likely to recommend brands that rely on such tools.
