Publicis Groupe Singapore snaps up AKA Asia
The move is a bid by Publicis to diversify its services in Southeast Asia, particularly in strategic comms, PR, and influence.
Earlier this week, Publicis Groupe Singapore announced a strategic acquisition of AKA Asia, a well-known integrated communications agency in the city-state. The move represents a concerted effort by Publicis Groupe to broaden and diversify its services in the Southeast Asian market, particularly in the areas of strategic communications, PR, and influence.
Amrita Randhawa, Chief Executive Officer of Publicis Groupe Singapore and Southeast Asia, commented on the acquisition, saying, “We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of AKA Asia, which has a stellar reputation in Singapore and will complement our existing agency capabilities to deliver exceptional solutions for our clients.”
The co-founders of AKA Asia, Kate O’Shea and Amy Wright, have established the agency with a focus on creative communications campaigns for a variety of consumer and corporate clients. Randhawa expressed excitement about integrating their team into Publicis Groupe.
Since its inception in 2009, AKA Asia has made a name for itself in the industry with its award-winning communication campaigns. The agency is led by CEO Leya Teo and consists of a team of over 50 communications professionals.
Teo reflected on the acquisition: “This is an exciting time for our agency, our growing team, and our clients. Together we have worked tirelessly to build an agency dedicated to putting its people first, empowering them to deliver innovative work that’s fearlessly creative and anchored in an earned-first approach. We look forward to leveraging Publicis’s 'Power of One' philosophy and its diverse ecosystem for clients across Asia, and the opportunities this provides our talented team.”
Post-acquisition, AKA Asia will join Publicis Groupe’s regional Influence practice, overseen by Margaret Key, CEO of MSL Asia Pacific.
Key shared her perspective on the new partnership: “We are both excited and proud to partner with AKA Asia. Kate and Amy have built an enviable workplace culture, evidenced by the talent they have nurtured from within over the last 15 years. This union will enable us to offer more value to our clients in Singapore and across our global network.”
