Meltwater and Microsoft collaborate to launch communications assistant
Meltwater unveils its latest innovation, the Meltwater Copilot, in collaboration with Microsoft to enhance how marketing professionals interact with data.
Meltwater, a global leader in media, social, and consumer intelligence, has unveiled its latest innovations as part of its annual Mid-Year Release event. With its marquee release, Meltwater aims to improve communications and data interaction for marketing professionals through the new Meltwater Copilot, developed in collaboration with Microsoft.
Meltwater provides essential tools for marketers, enabling them to gather, analyze, and act on media, social, and consumer intelligence. The company's offerings help businesses understand market trends, monitor brand reputation, and make informed strategic decisions.
Meltwater Copilot is a communications assistant built on Microsoft’s technology stack, including Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365. This tool allows users to access real-time insights such as brand mentions, sentiment analysis, key issues, and competitive benchmarking directly within their Teams environments.
Debuting with a Meltwater Copilot App for Teams and an extension for Copilot for Microsoft 365, this collaboration leverages leading AI technology from both Microsoft and Meltwater. This partnership aims to unlock the power of Meltwater’s extensive global data set, which processes over a billion pieces of information daily.
Online information is more abundant and valuable than ever. AI has transformed how teams access data, but only 25% feel fully prepared to use it effectively, and just 21% are confident in their data literacy skills. With the world moving faster than ever, teams need real-time insights without hours of leg work and a team of analysts.
Meltwater Copilot aims to bridge the gap between data and insight, allowing users to interact with Meltwater data using conversational language. This means the right insight is just a simple request away, presented in an easy-to-action manner. The tool allows users to query in natural language directly within Teams, asking questions like, “What are the top 5 stories impacting this industry?” and “Tell me the sentiment of those stories.”
Meltwater Copilot is now available to a limited group of joint Meltwater and Microsoft customers and is part of Meltwater’s Mid-Year Release, unveiled at Meltwater Summit in NYC. The company showcased new functionality that enables users to move faster, access insights with ease, and drive impact.
The innovations in the Mid-Year Release are powered by Meltwater’s AI engine, leveraging nearly 20 years of investment and large dataset. Paired with the latest developments in Generative AI, these include:
- The new AI search assistant
Simplifies search creation in Meltwater Explore with ChatGPT APIs. Instead of meticulously crafting searches using Boolean logic, users can now ask the assistant to create the search with a natural language request, freeing time for more creative and strategic work.
- A new unified AI assistant
Capable of understanding context, making recommendations, and handling tasks ranging from writing press releases to creating reports. Fully integrated into every workflow, the Meltwater AI Assistant eliminates repetitive tasks and allows users to focus on strategic work.
- Daily digest AI overviews
Summarizes the most important news and coverage daily. Teams can start their day with a comprehensive overview of the main stories related to their brand, competitors, and industry, minimizing threats and discovering opportunities for brand awareness.
- AI-powered influencer discovery
Fast tracks influencer discovery with AI-powered suggested influencers. Teams can easily find influencers who fit their campaign goals and strategy, leveraging AI-generated search prompts based on brand fit.
“At Meltwater, our goal is to ensure technology serves the needs of our users. We don’t just add features for the sake of novelty or to ride the latest tech trend. Our focus is on empowering our customers to achieve remarkable outcomes with solutions that truly simplify their workflows and effort levels,” said Chris Hackney, Meltwater’s chief product officer.
“The work Microsoft and Meltwater are doing will help reinvent the communications industry with the power of AI. Together we are putting tools in the hands of practitioners that combine the art and science of communications, delivering this capability in a more natural, intuitive way where people are already getting things done – in Microsoft Teams,” said Steve Clayton, VP of communications strategy at Microsoft.
Meltwater operates in a competitive landscape alongside companies like HubSpot, Salesforce, and Sprout Social.
